Hello! Hello! Welcome to the official page of Folk Film! Here you will find all the basic information of this ongoing multimedia project. It is currently being made as a Visual Novel by Karoline (czdoodles) Necromancer and Cranky Zombie Productions. This project is in the fantasy/horror genre and utilizes the Philippines as it's setting. It also draws inspirations of Filipino folklore.

About

The story centers around a film crew from Hollywood filming a scary slasher movie in the Philippines. The movie is being shot in a small mountain village that is rumored to still be home of many spirits. The movie shoot is plagued with delays mostly caused by supernatural means. With the help of a little Duende, the two main protagonists, a B-List Actor, Orson Garcia, and the daughter of a witch doctor, Diwata Navarro, must deal with the curses that plague the set.

Folk Film And The Haunted Casita

This VN is a side story where the crew decide to take a break in a Inn and prep for the next few days of shoots. Soon they discover that the building is not all as it seems. The building manager, Imelda, and the crew find themselves trapped and hunted by an unknown entity. It is up to Orson Garcia and Diwata Navarro to save the crew!

Characters

Orson Garcia
A Filipino-American B-List actor. He spent almost the entirety of his adult life in America as an actor after serving his time in the marines as a chef. Claims to have jump of the boat and swam to shores of San Francisco before it made its turn around back to the Philippines. Now in his 50s he tends to get cast as villains or creepy guys or small roles. Yet he puts 100% on every role but dreams of at least landing a leading part. Despite his scary/angry looks he is kind, energetic, curious, and always determined to get the job done. Currently plays a new character, the detective’s assistant that is also the comic relief. Usually plays one off character that die early on.

Diwata Navarro
The daughter of the shaman in a small village where the movie Splatter Casita 5 is being shot. She is training under her father to be the next witch doctor but she dreams of leaving the country to be an actress. She works as an extra and hopes this will be her ticket out of the small town. She is stoic and tomboyish. She tends to be blunt and honest with her opinions but is kind deep down. She is also a big fan of the lead actor in the SC5 film.

Tala The Duenda
A little forest spirit that hangs around human crowds for fun and their food. He often likes to play pranks on them to get back at them for knocking over his house often. He takes a liking to Orson after he helps the elf rebuild his house. He regularly helps both Orson and Diwata on their adventures to survive the film shoots from the other spirits and monsters plaguing the set.

Charlie “CC” Crawford
He is Orson’s best friend and partner in the acting business. He is almost always cast as the lead in B Horror movies but also hopes to leave the genre and become an action star. He has a bright and loud personality. Filled with bright optimism and confidence that is easily mistook for being cocky. He plays a recurring character of the Detective hunting down the killer.

Direk Andre
An eccentric man who travelled from the Philippines to LA to become director. He currently makes nothing but splatter films but hopes this film will be his big break into more high concept films.
